Reports from Cairo suggest that talks are ongoing between the Emirati small-arms manufacturer CARACAL and the Egyptian Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) regarding a cooperation agreement.
The same reports claim that the agreement will include a joint training program for engineers, joint Research and Development (R&D) projects, production of specialized munitions, firearms and affiliated attachments, and combat support optronics in the Egyptian military factory, Kader.
Kader military factory is a subsidiary of AOI, which belongs to the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production (MoMP).
Moreover, R&D will take place in Egypt; however, the parts will be brought in from CARACAL and the UAE.
The joint R&D project will include different field testing of aerial bombs, artillery rockets, and mortar shells.
As well, CARACAL will cooperate with AOI to manufacture small arms with night vision scopes, telescopic laser range finders, in addition to numerous types of portable pyrotechnic equipment.
