Egypt, Russia, and Ka-52 Alligator’s upgrade

Reports from Cairo suggest that the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) has reached an agreement with
Kamov to upgrade the all-weather Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter.
The same reports claim that Russia will soon send a delegation of engineers and technicians from
the Kamov rotorcraft manufacturing company to Egypt.
Under the agreement, Kamov engineers will install a new upgraded version of the VK-2500
turboshaft engines, along with new and improved optical guidance and laser tracking systems.
The upgrade will also include an upgraded version of the aiming system, and a better cooling
system that will ease prolonged use of the helicopter, before regular checkups and maintenance
are due.
Sources close to the situation say that Kamov will supply the EAF with a new laser-guided dual-feed
automatic cannon.
This will be an upgraded version of the Shipunov 2A42 autocannons that the Ka-52 Alligators
